Congratulations to 懂色帝 Culinary Institute Program Coordinator Chef Steven Leake who received the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) 2020 Dale P. Parnell Distinguished Faculty award for his teaching excellence, outstanding leadership in transforming the reputation of the College鈥檚 culinary arts program and dedication to ensuring the educational and career success of his students.

懂色帝 President Tracy D. Hall says the honor comes as no surprise to her. 鈥淐hef Leake is truly deserving of this honor,鈥� President Hall said.  鈥淗e never fails to raise the bar in the classroom and to broaden his students鈥� outlook on their futures. His commitment to his craft and our students is undeniable and the college is truly proud to count him among our faculty as he helps to transform the lives of our aspiring culinary artists through his immense talent and dedication.鈥�

Over the years, Leake has won numerous awards for his culinary skills and community service. Since his arrival at 懂色帝, the culinary arts program has developed a solid reputation for graduating skilled professionals who are highly sought after by the local employers. 鈥淚 am very honored to be recognized for the AACC Faculty Distinction Award,鈥� Leake said.  鈥淢y students, many of whom face insurmountable challenges, are the driving force that guides my path to improve their lives and equip them with stellar skills to enter the workforce. Their success is my reward.鈥�

Chef Leake is a regular contributor to Memphis鈥� No. 1 morning show, , where he whips up delicious treats live during his recurring food segments. Leake鈥檚 appearances have become so popular that WREG began showcasing his favorite eats and entrees monthly last month. He is affectionately referred to as the 鈥淢an with the Meal Plan鈥�. See Chef Leake whip up scrumptious dishes on WREG every second Thursday of the month between 9 and 10 a.m. on News Channel 3.
